About Us

Muskwa Lake Wellness Camp is a retreat dedicated to healing, cultural connection, and personal growth. Surrounded by the natural beauty of Muskwa Lake, the camp offers a peaceful setting for individuals, families, and groups seeking wellness through traditional and land-based practices.

Our Purpose & Approach

For over 35 years, Muskwa Lake Wellness Camp (MLWC) has offered culturally grounded, land-based healing and recovery services to individuals from Métis, Indigenous, and Northern communities. Operated by Kineepik Métis Local, the Camp is rooted in the belief that true wellness comes from reconnecting with the land, community and self.

At our camp we follow a braided approach to wellness — integrating three key strands and together, these strengthen each other as we walk alongside participants toward healing, one day at a time.

Western Strand

Evidence-based addiction education, life-skills training (budgeting, employability, anger management).

Indigenous Strand

Traditional northern practices including fishing, land-use, language revitalization, community-connectedness.

Northern Rural & Remote Strand

Drawing on lived experience in Northern communities to shape relevant supports and strengthen healing in context.

Our New Home Progress

Our new space will offer improved facilities for gatherings, workshops, and land-based healing, creating a welcoming environment for individuals, families, and community groups.

It represents a significant step in strengthening cultural connections and supporting holistic well-being for future generations.
