The Fall Harvesting Camp, known as KM 67, is an opportunity for the indigenous community of Pinehouse Lake and guests to gather, share and transmit cultural knowledge to future generations.

Participants camp for a month and participate in;

Language Transmission, Medicine Harvesting, Fish Harvesting, Moose Harvesting, Duck Harvesting, Rabbit Harvesting, Food Preservation, Bannock Making, Traditional Meals, Sharing Circles, Free Camping, and Other Cultural Activities & Events

Kilometer 67 has become a cultural staple in our proud Indigenous community of Pinehouse. Community members have traditionally camped in the area since time immemorial and as Kineepik Metis Local we wanted to support and celebrate our cultural traditions through music, art, dance, traditional medicines, traditional foods, and most importantly our language.

The cultural camp is a gathering place where knowledge keepers transfer their traditional knowledge around hunting, gathering and preparing traditional foods. Young and old work together to go out on the land to harvest moose, fish, birds and small game and pass on the safe and sustainable practices.

In the evenings and on the weekends, community gathers in great numbers to harvest, prepare and share traditional medicines, play traditional games, and share stories in our Cree language.

This is a great event where our community demonstrates the passion they have in preserving and maintaining our language and culture, in a generation where most indigenous cultures and languages find themselves at risk. We welcome all of our neighboring communities to attend and partake. In previous years we have had guests from across the country attend and immerse themselves in our cultural activities and community.
